She had never liked cemeteries. Even when she'd started taking lives in order to ensure her own survival, Emma had always felt at unease around monuments to the dead. She knew Tony would not have brought them here without reason. It only took a few seconds before she felt the presence of the minds that were his reasons.
They watched, from afar, as one of the oldest X-Men met with one of the oldest Avengers. Wolverine had not formed the X-Men; he had been a member of the second team Charles had brought together. But there was no Avengers without Captain America. Emma knew, too, that the two had served together before, and that no one knew Logan's real age or just how much death either had endured, suffered, or had to cause.
All in the name of what this day was supposed to be about. Emma felt the sorrow radiating from both of the old soldiers as they inclined their heads to one another and exchanged a few words before heading deeper into the cemetery together. She opened her mind to her husband, soothed again by his mere presence. She kept the thought that she'd like to be able to keep that strange balm to herself, but did open their rapport enough for him to "overhear" her thought, You're not going to join them, are you?
He did not answer. He did not have to. She already knew, and understood why he was still here, watching from afar, protecting from afar as much as the Captain would allow. He placed on her knee. Surprising herself, Emma swallowed a lump in her throat, placed her hand over his, and curled her fingers with his. Their worlds would continue to suffer in the name of liberty until all were free.

We’ve seen both of these developers before on this blog. They both at one point worked on handheld games for the Nicktoons Unite series—Firemint developed “Nicktoons: Attack of the Toybots” for the Game Boy Advance and Climax Studios (they’ve gone by several names) developed both the Nintendo DS and Game Boy Advance versions of “Nicktoons Unite!” You can even see an immediate similarity between GBA “Nicktoons Unite!” and “Lilo & Stitch 2” upon opening the games and looking at the main menus—they share the same style, albeit with some minor differences here and there.
Anyway, given the mention of Hämsterviel in the title, we have ourselves a tie-in to the “Lilo & Stitch: The Series” cartoon, which served as a sequel to the “Lilo & Stitch” movie. In this cartoon, Lilo and Stitch are trying to find the other 625 experiments that Jumba created and steer them away from their original evil purposes.

There was an accident on I-4 (aka the main drag 'o Florida) right outside the edge of Disney. Both drivers are fine, but the fertilizer truck went up like a Christmas tree and closed the road in both directions for about four hours; and one way for pretty much the day. ALL traffic was diverted into Disney property - because it was the only/closest open road - and caused one of the largest clusters this side of a massive hurricane.
Actually, a hurricane would have been less stressful, yesterday.
Anyway... quick bullet points because I suck at this:
♥ signed up for Reddit yesterday, for the sole purpose of thanking a stranger for fixing a problem I was having.
♥ downloaded Tumblr to my phone. Not sure why, but it's there. Not like I ever used it before, but whatevs.
♥ plotted the bejesus out of a Red vs Blue story the last few days and really want to write it down -- yes yes, broken record -- and checked today to see if anyone over on Insane Journal had taken the username I was considering (because apparently making an RP journal will help? .. also I could maybe bring the dude into the IJ game.) Shockingly.. it was taken. And for that same character.I haven't checked LJ or DW yet.
♥ that last bullet point was a bit longer than I intended
♥ bought a new quilt pattern and collected the fabric. It's fairly simple, and I'm hoping it will relight the fire, since I haven't touched the sewing machine since February. Honestly, could probably do it in a day, but going to follow the "schedule" of the quiltalong, if I can help it.
♥ the dangers of mood/rage/apathetic shopping (I MISS YOU JOANNSSSSSSSSSSSS) is that I now have an apartment full of yarn; nowhere to store it; and the credit card bill is much higher than I'd like. There was also a set of brakes; quite a lot of quilty subscriptions; and a renewed Universal annual pass in the mix... but still. I have to pay for a hotel room (and hopefully con swag) in two months, so I need to get my shit together.
♥ there was something else, but I can't remember what it was. OH. Lands of Magic is coming back on DW, for you landcommers who landcomm still. There was a slight name change and some extra teams, but it's still the same olf LoM. (linking this way to avoid having to edit the post, thanks to the cross-post not working)
♥ I have to put my team mod reminding-poster hat back on. Up side, it'll get me back on a schedule that NOT having regular posts to make really screwed up my internal clock. WHAT DAY IS IT EVEN??!I kid. Mostly. Work has me scheduled to know Wednesdays, at least
I might have to put these bullet points under a cut. Will have to see how long the post actually is, in post.

Pimping Eleceed for SmallFandomFest

What do you get when you mix cats, magic, and action? Eleceed is one such of (admittedly) many examples! But with this one, come not only to be entertained but amazed!
With elements of both Triad-like lifestyles and martial arts as well, with healthy doses of humor, romance, and found family, and men and women equally beautiful and powerful, this series that started my love for WebToons is a feast not just for the reader but for the eyes as well! I'd rank this series' artist, Zhena, right alongside the best of Marvel, or DC, comics. Come see for yourselves!

Experiences and Memories
1. What’s the most memorable experience you’ve had related to your fandom(s)?
I feel like everything in Smallville fandom has kinda blurred together. Maybe not a specific fandom, but in recent years, the excitement of running (well, co running) my first exchange was such a good feeling, as was the unexpected enthusiasm over Comment Bingo, when I finally got it up and running.
2. Have you ever traveled to a location specifically because it was featured or related to your fandom(s)?
No. When I went to Vancouver though, I was excited when I realized I could recognize the top of the building that they used as Oliver's penthouse/Queen Tower in Smallville. I still remember a LJ friend made a list of places that they film at, and I left it on my laptop and forgot that I wasn't planning on taking it, so I couldn't use it. IDK how much my family would be all for my Smallville related tour of Vancouver but I could've tried to see a couple of spots. Oh well.
3. Can you share about a time when fandom helped you through a difficult period?
I don't know if there's a specific time, but fandom has always felt like an escape. I'm pretty closed off/keep things to myself, for better or for worse, and sometimes, I think I have been able to express myself online in a way that is a little harder to do in person. And people have always been kind and supportive and I have appreciated that a lot. I've left fandom multiple times but it's always easy to find a home here when I return.
4. What’s the longest you’ve ever waited in line for an event or release related to fandom?
Probably a couple of hours. Both when I stood in line at Barnes N Nobles for the 7th Harry Potter book (had to go twice - one to get the ticket with the Letter Group I was in earlier in the day and the second time when they were actually opening the doors) or when I went to the midnight showing of The Dark Knight and had to be there at like, 9PM. Even then, we were further back than I planned so we could've gotten there sooner but the seats we ended up with weren't so bad, iirc.
5. Have you had the chance to meet any of the actors, musicians, authors, or creators from your fandom(s)?
No, the closest I got was when I saw Shah Rukh Khan filming on my college campus and seeing Chris Evans in LA pre-Captain America. I was getting ice cream with a few friends and a premiere for Push had just let out. Dakota Fanning left fairly quickly, but I do remember he was hanging around. We recognized him but I didn't have a smart phone or anything for him to sign, so I didn't bother.
6. What’s the most treasured piece of merchandise you have that’s related to fandom?
Bollywood may not be a fandom I was ever in much, but I was obsessed with Shah Rukh Khan as a teen and I was in London a few days after his Madame Tussaud's statue was revealed, so when we went, they had a SRK doll. I bought it and brought it back with me. I still have it. Also my sister once got me a Superman keychain from Six Flags and I still keep it on my lanyard. It's held up well! :D
7. Do you remember the first item you ever collected or received related to fandom?
Not really. I had a lot of Shah Rukh Khan posters as a teen. I would assume it was something Superman related though since I've been a fan for so long.
8. What’s the most exciting fan event or panel you’ve attended?
I've never attended any fan events/panels.
9. Have you participated in any challenges, collaborations, or competitions within fandom?
Yes, I've been apart of land comms, bingo events (though I'm terrible about completing them!), fests, and exchanges. They're a lot of fun and have helped me get out of my comfort zone.
10. How did you feel the first time you saw your favorite character, band, or actor in person?
I remember OneRepublic was part of this summer fest years ago and I was really excited to watch them live. I don't know how much I actually enjoy live music events/concerts, but that was a blast.
11. Have any of your family or friends become fans because of your influence? What was that like?
My sister has actually ended up getting me into shows for the most part, because I barely watch anything and she gives a lot of things a shot (she was even watching Smallville before me). My dad watched Elementary because of me, since I wanted to, and he really liked it too, so we'd watch together.
12. What’s the most emotional moment you’ve had as a fan within your community?
I remember when one of my LJ friends passed away. We weren't close, but we did work together on a fandom newsletter and I was just shocked. I'm sure many other people can relate unfortunately, but the way it all happened and escalated so quickly was a lot. I think that was the first time someone I knew online had passed away. Just so sad.

FAPA blues
Jun. 16th, 2025 08:39 amelfGot the most recent FAPA mailing, #351. It's fewer than 60 pages. While we're up to 21 members I think (I don't have it with me right now) - up from the 14-ish when I joined a few years ago - the page count has dropped recently, possibly in part because the Org Editor can no longer print people's entries for them. (He retired and no longer has access to the work printers.) So the overseas members are no longer sending in quarterly submissions.

FAPA's contribution requirement is 8 pages a year, which can be 1 double-sided sheet of paper per quarter. This was not particularly onerous even in the days of hectographs. It is, however, apparently enough of a hassle that several current members only technically meet it - sending in that single sheet a quarter, and it's only a page and a half, and it's in 14-pt type and includes a picture covering a quarter of the page. If there were still a waiting list, they'd be bumped for failing to meet the contrib requirements. Since there hasn't been a waiting list this century, this is not an issue.
There are scans of some past mailings (or rather, parts of them) and scans of Fantasy Amateur, the official org zine (aka, the index & list of members), which stops right at the point where membership started dropping below the max of 65.
...Anyone want to join a venerated scifi institution that's been fading since the dawn of the WWW?
Requirements:
* Send 25 copies (currently) to the OE, minimum 8 pgs/year; can be sent quarterly, annually, or anything in between. ( More details inside )
