For those thinking of including some rare pairings in their lists, this weekend might be the moment - [personal profile] thisaintbc is running Rare Pair Hell Weekend this weekend (25th-26th June), so it's a great time to create some new works for rare pairings - or do something more low level, like comment on somebody else's fanworks. You can probably find some right here in our collection!

Time for another chat post!

It's been over six months now since [community profile] 100ships launched, and we collectively have created 211 works in 116 fandoms in the Ao3 Collection (and I know there have been one or two people not posting there, too). *\o/*

As we have very few repeat-ships tagged on AO3, it seems likely that's also pretty nearly 211 or more distinct ships, which is amazing! If my maths is up to it (and it often isn't), we've covered 78 of the prompts - the most popular being #1 Adamant with 9 uses. In short: multi-shippers, as you were, carry on; you're fabulous. ♥

Anyway, how is it going? This is a social post for people who want it to chat to each other in the comments, so have at it.

Anyone running out of steam and needing a bit of cheering on/poking? Stuck for your next ship? What to do for that one awkward prompt? Want to try different media?

Or if you'd like to celebrate your achievements you can share here if you've written a ship you've always wanted to, or created the tag on AO3 (go, you, and your pool noodle!), or created in a new-to-you media, format or style, tell us about it.

It's been two months now since [community profile] 100ships started, and we've already reached 97 works in 60 fandoms in the AO3 collection alone (and not everybody's posted there), which is amazing! I am all bowled over by the response and hope everyone's been having as much fun as I have.

We have collectively made a tag cloud, if such things amuse you - there seems to be plenty of Fluff!

Welcome to our second chat post - an opportunity to catch up with each other or talk about anything related to the challenge and look for help/commiseration/congrats on progress and which prompts are proving awkward, if you're running out of ships, or you're spoiled for choice. (I've managed two works so far, but I do have at least one other I'm still trying to type up. Sometimes rl is so awkward!)

If you have any queries, you can ask them at the sticky post any time, but you're welcome to ask here, too. Happy creating, whether you want to stop here and chat or not. ♥

Welcome to [community profile] 100ships everyone!

I'm [personal profile] thisbluespirit, your mod. Hello and welcome all, and thanks so much for taking the plunge and joining in - and even posting works already! *\o/* I didn't know if anyone else would be up for a multishipping challenge, so I'm delighted to find there's a whole bunch of us around.

Use this post to introduce yourself (or not; there is no obligation to be sociable to complete the table!) and share how you're aiming to go about filling the table, if you've got any plans or strategies in mind - challenges you're doing in combination or if you're trying to do it in a specific way, like one ship per fandom, or multiship your way through one fandom, or let your Little Black Dress character get around even more than usual. Any prompts seem especially tempting or tricky? What media are people planning to work in?

(For me, I just wanted something to give me a kick to write a few more ships, especially some that I've been meaning to get around to and thought, "Wouldn't it be great if there were a comm like [community profile] 100fandoms, but for ships, and then I'd have an excuse?" So, that's what I'm planning to do, and it probably will be fic, though I do also enjoy icon-making and sometimes other things, too. And here we all are.)

Anyway, this is just an opportunity to chat or check in (or not), as you please - happy shipping, and good luck!

Welcome to [community profile] 100ships, a multifandom challenge comm where the aim is to create 100 different fanworks featuring 100 different relationships.

All types & categories of ships are welcome. There are no claims and no time limit on the challenge. Just copy the table to somewhere convenient and get started.

This is shamelessly based on [community profile] 100fandoms and [community profile] 51pluscrossoverfandoms (writing challenges), but all fanworks are welcome.

You don't need a Dreamwidth account. There is an AO3 collection for posting, and anon commenting is on here for any questions & announcing completion. If you want an account in order to post, it's free to sign-up.

Anyone who completes the challenge will receive a banner.

Rules
1. Copy/post the table to somewhere convenient to you, create fanworks for each prompt and have fun multi-shipping. There are no minimums and maximums. As long as your work is complete and comprehensible and visible/audible, it counts. You can write in any language (although the info in the linking post here should be in English).

2. Be kind. No hatespeech, harassment, trolling or ship/character bashing. (If writing RPF, please be sensitive - i.e. avoid non-famous/underage living people or serial killers/war criminals etc. current/within living memory etc.)

3. Post your work wherever you usually do and link back here to the work. Please use header info (e.g. Creator, Pairing, Fandom, Title, ratings, Summary, Notes/Warnings & prompt used). There's a template below, but you can use the AO3 share feature instead or any similar formatting that you prefer.

You can add existing fandom and prompt tags to your entry when posting. Mods will create new tags for you as needed.

Guidelines

♥ All types, ratings, categories of ships are welcome, romantic, platonic, queerplatonic, slash, femslash, het, poly, gen, familial, friendship, canonical, non-canonical, crossover, crack, rare pairs, randomised pairings, juggernauts, RPF, etc. etc.. It's up to you!

♥ Each fill must be created for the challenge and focus on a different ship using a different combination of canon characters each time. You can't create for the same character combination twice, even if one is platonic and the other romantic, or the second is an AU.

♥ You can ship canon characters with OCs if you choose, although only once per character (i.e. you can write A/OC, but not also A/Another OC or A/OC/OC, but you can use B/OC, C/OC.) Minor characters, mentioned/implied characters or widely accepted in the fandom fanon/canon OCs count as regular canonical characters.

♥ Same-actor character combinations are fine and count as different pairings, as do canonical alternate versions of characters. (A/B and A/B's Evil Clone count as separate ships, as does A/B, A/B's Evil Clone/B.) Versions of characters across adaptations would count as separate.

♥ Approach the table however you want - write any mix of pairings you like! You could combine it with [community profile] 100fandoms and write your 100 OTPs from 100 different fandoms, or 100 pairings from one fandom, 100 crossover pairings, 100 randomly generated pairings or requests, 100 different pairings involving your favourite character, or your OTP + 99 different additional poly options, or any sort of variation you please. It's up to you.

♥ Prompts can be interpreted as widely as you choose, and you can combine them with any other prompts, challenges, fests, bingos you like (as long as the other fest also allows it).

Table code for claims:

♥ Part of the fun of challenges like these is working through the same prompts together, but if a prompt or prompts is distressing to you or you would prefer some creator's choice options, you can just replace it/them. (Up to 10 max.)

The prompts are taken from colour names, so select a new one from a colour list like this. Swap the prompt(s) out on your table before you start writing, and stick to the swapped version you've chosen. (Don't forget to check you haven't picked a duplicate prompt!)

When posting fills written for swapped prompts use the tag: "prompt: creator's choice".

If you have any other queries, please ask here or contact the mod via PM. Anon commenting is on.
