Welcome to
100ships, a multifandom challenge comm where the aim is to create 100 different fanworks featuring 100 different relationships.

All types & categories of ships are welcome. There are no claims and no time limit on the challenge. Just copy the table to somewhere convenient and get started.
This is shamelessly based on
100fandoms and
51pluscrossoverfandoms (writing challenges), but all fanworks are welcome.
You don't need a Dreamwidth account. There is an AO3 collection for posting, and anon commenting is on here for any questions & announcing completion. If you want an account in order to post, it's free to sign-up.
Anyone who completes the challenge will receive a banner.
Rules
1. Copy/post the table to somewhere convenient to you, create fanworks for each prompt and have fun multi-shipping. There are no minimums and maximums. As long as your work is complete and comprehensible and visible/audible, it counts. You can write in any language (although the info in the linking post here should be in English).
2. Be kind. No hatespeech, harassment, trolling or ship/character bashing. (If writing RPF, please be sensitive - i.e. avoid non-famous/underage living people or serial killers/war criminals etc. current/within living memory etc.)
3. Post your work wherever you usually do and link back here to the work. Please use header info (e.g. Creator, Pairing, Fandom, Title, ratings, Summary, Notes/Warnings & prompt used). There's a template below, but you can use the AO3 share feature instead or any similar formatting that you prefer.
You can add existing fandom and prompt tags to your entry when posting. Mods will create new tags for you as needed.

Guidelines
♥ All types, ratings, categories of ships are welcome, romantic, platonic, queerplatonic, slash, femslash, het, poly, gen, familial, friendship, canonical, non-canonical, crossover, crack, rare pairs, randomised pairings, juggernauts, RPF, etc. etc.. It's up to you!
♥ Each fill must be created for the challenge and focus on a different ship using a different combination of canon characters each time. You can't create for the same character combination twice, even if one is platonic and the other romantic, or the second is an AU.
♥ You can ship canon characters with OCs if you choose, although only once per character (i.e. you can write A/OC, but not also A/Another OC or A/OC/OC, but you can use B/OC, C/OC.) Minor characters, mentioned/implied characters or widely accepted in the fandom fanon/canon OCs count as regular canonical characters.
♥ Same-actor character combinations are fine and count as different pairings, as do canonical alternate versions of characters. (A/B and A/B's Evil Clone count as separate ships, as does A/B, A/B's Evil Clone/B.) Versions of characters across adaptations would count as separate.
♥ Approach the table however you want - write any mix of pairings you like! You could combine it with
100fandoms and write your 100 OTPs from 100 different fandoms, or 100 pairings from one fandom, 100 crossover pairings, 100 randomly generated pairings or requests, 100 different pairings involving your favourite character, or your OTP + 99 different additional poly options, or any sort of variation you please. It's up to you.
♥ Prompts can be interpreted as widely as you choose, and you can combine them with any other prompts, challenges, fests, bingos you like (as long as the other fest also allows it).
100 Ships Prompt Table
Table code for claims:
♥ Part of the fun of challenges like these is working through the same prompts together, but if a prompt or prompts is distressing to you or you would prefer some creator's choice options, you can just replace it/them. (Up to 10 max.)
The prompts are taken from colour names, so select a new one from a colour list like this. Swap the prompt(s) out on your table before you start writing, and stick to the swapped version you've chosen. (Don't forget to check you haven't picked a duplicate prompt!)
When posting fills written for swapped prompts use the tag: "prompt: creator's choice".
If you have any other queries, please ask here or contact the mod via PM. Anon commenting is on.

Date: 2023-10-04 10:03 am (UTC)a) If I want to use the prompts (with credit of course, eg. linked back to this page) but not add the fics (do you allow art too?) to your collection/journal, is it okay?
b) My understanding is if you use couple A/B for prompt #1, that means if you want to continue to prompt #2, you should pick another ship, correct? Does it have to be completely new (C/D) or is multishipping allowed (B/C)?
c) Do you have to do all the 100 prompts?
Thank you so much, sorry to bother you :)

Date: 2023-10-04 12:40 pm (UTC)If you want to just use the table, then as long as you credit
If you would like to join in with the community in any way, or might choose to do so in the future, then:
a) Yes, art is allowed - all kinds of fanworks are welcome!
You do not have to post to the AO3 collection. For the community, I actually prefer people not to post their works directly here - just to link back to wherever they have posted them (if they choose to). (There's a header you can c+p to use for that in this post, but that's optional too - as long as you include all the same kind of information in your linking post, that's fine - i.e. Fandom, ship, prompt used, and either Choose Not To Warn or add any appropriate ratings/Content notes/warnings so people know what to expect at the link.)
The lowest level of interaction is simply to work through the prompts alone, then link back to the completed table here on this post to get an achievement banner.
You can also choose to link works here individually, or in batches, if you'd like other members to be able to see your work - whichever members prefer is completely fine.
If you're new to Dreamwidth and puzzled by tagging - I am usually around and will take care of tags, no problem. (You can add existing tags if you're happy to do so, that's great, but only a mod can make new ones - Dreamwidth has only a limited no of tags.)
b) Yes, you can multi-ship; you just can't repeat the exact same pairing without adding at least 1 new character to the mix.
c) The aim is ultimately to the complete the table, but 100 prompts is a lot! There is an achievement banner for people who complete it, but absolutely no penalty for anyone who doesn't. I am pretty slow at these things myself - I always think that if they inspire any fanworks at all, they've done their job, really.
(You do also have the option to swap out up to 10 prompts if you wish to do so - the only caveat is that the new prompts must also be colour names like the rest, and that you want to watch out you don't accidentally pick a duplicate prompt.)
I hope that helps, but if you are just after taking the table for your own purposes, then you can ignore the vast majority of this reply!
I hope you have fun however you choose to approach the table and the comm. Good luck! ♥

Date: 2023-10-05 03:43 pm (UTC)Thank you for your explanation and reply! Yes, I was interested, but thinking of posting elsewhere because for some reason the Rich Text Editor didn't load when I last tried using a Dreamwidth... this has been so helpful, admittedly some terms confused me because so far I'm just an occasional fic reader on this site.

Date: 2023-10-05 07:38 pm (UTC)Terms? Header?? That's just this bit:
Creator:
Title:
Rating:
Type: (Art/Fic/Graphics/Vid/Mix/Podfic etc.)
Size/length/word count etc.:
Prompt:
Fandom/Ship:
Notes/Warnings: (eg. spoilers, triggers, warnings etc. or CNTW)
Summary
Link: [Your text here]
(and you can c[opy] + p[aste] it in from the text box above, or just use your own preferred version.)
Anyway, as I said before, you're welcome to run off with the prompts wherever - but if you find yourself feeling confident enough wit Dreamwidth to post links here, you will be very welcome indeed at any time. ♥
